Here we are at week 28 of 52 for the weekly photo challenge. Last Sunday we got to hang out at the beach with friends and family and I got to take a few photos with my iPhone. My camera was nicely packed in my bag waiting to come out to play, however, my busy brain forgot to charge the battery. Yikes! Luckily, my iPhone was there to capture a few precious beach moments. These kids are definitely beach kids, and I right there with them, watching from under the umbrella.
Cloudy skies and a very wet weekend made it quite a challenge to take some great shots for this week’s photo challenge. Below are the best three I could get from each kid.
Did you manage to take any photos last week? I have challenged myself to take one picture of the kids every week. If you want to join the challenge post your kids photos on IG and tag #weeklyphotowithtrendypeas so I can see your photos. Random moments, theme portraits, playground photography, weekend scenes, anything works.
This weekend we celebrated 80’s style. The best theme to get kid’s portraits might just be an 80’s portrait session. All that abundance of color plus the great lighting we had on Saturday afternoon made it easy to get some good shots of the kids. Perhaps we should start dressing like the 80’s, no?

2:: Marcus playing four square in 80’s fashion
3:: Victor dancing to 80’s music

Random moments, or theme portraits, like this 80’s portrait from Bela’s party or a black and white session like the portraits from this week here. Anything works.
What a weekend! Non-stop activities and many celebrations. On Sunday, we got to enjoy temperatures reaching the seventies. That little taste of Spring was so nice. While the kids were playing outside I grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos. I always treasure moments without organized play. Here are a few of them.

2:: Bela exploring and daydreaming
3:: Victor making a run for mommy

I am challenging myself to take more and way better pictures of the kids in 2016. Every year, I have a photo album done with our family’s best photos and moments. As I was putting this year’s album together the other day, I felt a little short on “good” pictures. So I decided to invest some time in taking and archiving kids photography. The photo challenge is one portrait per week of the kids. That means I will have 52 photos of each one of them by the end of the year. When I look at it this way, the 52 actually sounds like a lot, but I am up for the challenge. What about you? Do you want to participate in this little project with me? If you want to share your photos, post them on Instagram and tag them with “weeklyphotowithtrendypeas”. I would love to see your photos. Cheers to a great year with great photography! Xo, Patchi

I have been so inspired by James Kicinski McCoy, a writer and photographer, product designer and the editor and blogger of Bleubird. She captures one photo per week of her beautiful kids. And she has four little darlings! I am lucky if I capture one picture a month of my kids. But since they grow and change so fast, I thought I would change that. I enjoy taking pictures and learning more and more about photography. So my new goal now is to dedicate a little part of this blog to my little moments with my kids. That one-on-one time that I get to spend with each one of them that it doesn’t seem to happen often enough. Even if it is just that cheesy moment when I say: “say cheese” and our eyes meet for that one second. It doesn’t have to be anything too special. It can be ordinary. Little parts of our routine. Because once I captured that moment, I will be able to go back there anytime. Have you been taking pictures of your kiddos?
::: Bela practicing the piano.
::: Marcus. A bath was certainly needed after playing in the mud.
::: Victor tasting spring, even if only for a day.
