DIY Tassels – How-to-update an Old Comforter
You’ve seen it everywhere, right? Tassels on earrings, colorful tassels on handbags, elegant tassels on shirts and even, you guessed right, tassels on shoes. So, we figure we would follow this trend to make a tassel creation of our own. All while updating an old comforter.
Today we are showing you how to make your own tassels and give an old comforter a new look. All you need is some thin cotton twine and some time to kill.
DIY Tassels Instructions
1- Find a credit card, gift certificate or even a business card to use as a template. Then loop the twine 80 times around the template.
2- Remove the twine from the template and tie a knot at one end, leaving three to four inches of string so you can sew that onto the comforter.
3- Next, tie another piece of string using the same twine at about a third of a distance from the top.
4- All that is left to do is to cut the bottom loop. Once the loop has been broken apart take a look at the ends and give them a little trim so they look even.
5- Sew each tassel to the comforter and you are done! I did 5 tassels on each side and spaced them out evenly when sewing to the comforter.
This DIY tassels project was super easy and it was just what we needed for a pre-teen room we are putting together. Remember the design board here. I think that these cute tassels were the finishing touch for this bohemian space. We will be posting more about the room when we have all the pieces in place. Can’t wait!
