I hope you had a nice week. Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I am afraid I can’t say that I am. It seems way too soon. I still have Halloween in my brain. But I guess that is what happens when you keep things busy. This weekend I plan to take a couple of photos of the kids for our Christmas card. Since I send cards to Brazil I need to get them done much earlier than I would like. I read an article here about great tips for a photoshoot with kids. If you like to get behind the camera like I do, this article might interest you. Besides snapping photos, I plan to drink hot cocoa with the kids, enjoy a movie night with my sisters and maybe work on some Christmas crafts. Happy weekend!

We are going on full speed here at Trendy Peas. We are not getting ready to launch a new product at this time. Rather, we are getting ready to receive our newest family member. To be exact, my baby will arrive in only two more days. I am overwhelmed with happiness, exhaustion, curiosity, and support from my lovely family. My parents came from Brazil and are here with me enjoying summer while we wait for the big day. The nursery is looking very cute. Soon I will be able to share photos of the space. I have gathered a lot of ideas from my pinterest board here to create my baby’s room. Keeping it gender-neutral is not a very easy task. But I hope to give great ideas for those who wish to create gender-neutral spaces when I showcase my nursery. Check back soon to see the space and our new family member. Will it be a boy or girl? I am really excited to find out.Read More
No matter what, family and friends will always be there for you. I recently entered Marcus’ room in a décor contest. What a fun and insane ride that was. We ended up losing the contest by 2 votes. But we had a great time watching the close score. It felt like Brazil was playing in the finals of the soccer world cup and we just didn’t score that last goal. But it made me feel really special. I could not believe all the friends and family that voted for Trendy Peas. 218 votes. My mom was calling me at 11:30 pm to see how the contest was going, my sister and brother-in-law were following everything on facebook and asking friends to join them, and we also had a great response and comments from other supporters. So THANK YOU all. Thank you for all that voted. I start my day today not wondering about 2 more votes but overwhelmed about the 218 votes. Cheers!
Well, before I get ahead of myself I should first introduce myself. I’m Raquel Kohler, the other half of Trendy Peas. It will be my first blog post for Trendy Peas and I thought I would introduce myself before I go on with the topic of beds…
I am Patchi’s sister and most definitely her number one fan. I wish I could say I contribute with the creative aspects of Trendy Peas, but that is not the case. I work on the website and take care of the business side of our company. I do have to say that I LOVE it! I love her creations and love being part of it; in any way that I can.
I live in Norfolk, VA with my husband Nic and daughters Sofia (4) and Olivia (almost 2). For those of you that like to put names to faces, here we are:
Sofia and Olivia have so much fun together. It makes me so happy. Sofia is very sweet and loves making her little sister smile. Olivia is full of energy and is always trying to keep up with her big sister. For those reasons, Nic and I thought it would be so good for them to share the same room. That brings me to the topic of beds…
Since we are redoing their room, we need new beds. Sofia’s current bed is too big to fit in with another bed of that same size. Olivia currently has a crib so we need a new bed for her too. We like clean simple lines and I have been looking for twin beds everywhere… While there are a lot of nice modern options out there, it is hard to find anything that is affordable.
I do love the look of the Sparrow bed from Oeuf. It is both modern and feminine. I am not so happy with the price though. As I need two beds for my two little princesses, the total for the beds alone would cost me a total of $1719.98. And I have not even taken into account the cost for mattresses… Ouch!
I have been trying to convince myself that I would be ok to spend that much money on the beds alone, but I just did not succeed. So I started my search again and remembered an old friend of mine called IKEA. I was pleased to find two great options, but I am having doubts on whether they will work…
The Malm twin bed for the bargain price of $129 would fit perfectly in their room, but does not come with a trundle.
The Odda twin bed priced at $149 may not work because the side headboard may cover one of the windows, but it comes with a nice trundle…
Needles to say, I still have work to do… Finding an affordable modern looking bed has proven to be a difficult task. I would love to hear from anyone that has been through this before. Can anyone out there help me on this one?Read More
Hello? Is anyone still out there? It has been quite a while since my last post. I am glad to be back here writing again. Over here we can see some leaves changing their colors and socks are a must now for bedtime. Bela and Marcus are still enjoying the outdoors. They play outside as most as they can. But we are slowly saying goodbye to summer and are trying to come up with more indoor activities. We have been reading more often and falling in love for trains, blocks and puzzles. What about you? What are some of your favorite indoor activities? What about favorite children’s books? I am taking suggestions…
Over at Trendy Peas things are non-stop action. Back in June, we designed a couple of holiday cards for Minted. And they are now ready for sale. I really liked how they turned out. Minted has an incredible selection of holiday cards this year. So, what are you waiting for? Head on to Minted and see for yourself. It is never to soon to start planning. I will be sharing a little bit of our house in my next post. Check back soon.Read More
