I was delighted when mom Lesley Hendon approached us to create some custom wall décor for baby Blakely’s nursery. She chose a very nice color combination of aqua blue and mustard yellow. The bedding from Oilo in aqua raindrops is divine. I love the accent color of the rug and the beautiful decal above the crib. The custom canvas with Blakely’s name adds a special touch to this beautiful space. And above the changing table you can see four of bird prints in the same color as the bedding with hints of mustard yellow to complete the décor. It looks airy, clean, fun and chic. I love it! Lesley, thank you so much for sharing your lovely nursery with us. We were very happy to be a part of this project and I can’t tell how much I enjoy seeing the results. You have created a space that is cozy, whimsical, and welcoming to your baby. A true warm little nest. Good luck to you and your family!
Last Friday we went to the West Moreland Park for our Camping/Triathlon trip. It was super nice. I like to change the routine every now and then. And the kids love every minute of it. When we arrived we were very, very HAPPY with the cabins we rented. Bathrooms and kitchen in each of our cabins surprised us. That sure makes a camping trip even more pleasant. We ate marshmallows by the fire, played at the beach, searched for sticks, collected little warms, and carried our flash lights while searching for bears (which was actually grandpa coming to get the little ones). We all had a great time. And best of all, mom and dad were here this time to share these moments.
There were many neat things in this trip, but I have to emphasize this little market by the road. Take what you want and leave what you owe. We also saw a total of four deer, but none were photographed.
The trip wasn’t just fun and games; we managed to squeeze in time to participate in the Triathlon on Colonial Beach, 20 minutes from the park. Let me tell you something, getting ready to swim 1,500m in the river is pretty frightening. I was hesitant before I got in the water. And when I was actually in the water, I was beyond frightened. I didn’t enjoy it at all. I couldn’t see anything in that dark water. I told Alex before I signed-up for this that I would be the last person swimming. You know, that one person that is surrounded by the rescue boats to make sure he or she is not drowning. He laughed and said the goal was to finish. But I wasn’t joking. Being the slow swimmer that I am I knew that would happen. So as I was there getting closer to the finish line, I noticed there weren’t a lot of people at the beach anymore. And there it was, a little canoe right next to me. Then I knew I had to be the last person in the water. That was probably the only time I smiled during those extremely long 52 minutes in the water. Yes, that is right 52 minutes. When I crossed the finish line, I was kind of happy to find out that behind me there we still two participants in the water. Oh my, what an adventure. And then strangers start clapping for you to encourage what you just achieved. And all I wanted to say is “whatever, that was just terrible”. But you just smile and keep going. See my face below. That is pure fear before I started. I am glad there is no image from the after the fact.
Then there was my dad, who was going to ride the bike for 40k. Did I mention I was participating in this triathlon as a team with my dad and Raquel? I know that just makes the 1,500m in 52 minutes more of a joke. My dad finished in 1 hour and 32 minutes and Raquel finished running in 1:03 minutes. We were in 7th place in the relay competition. Please note that there were only 7 teams. Just got to keep laughing. The good thing about this whole thing was to experience this with my family. But the consequences might be severe, as everyone is now getting addicted and signing up for upcoming events. I am not so sure I want to try this again. But I know we will laugh about it together in many family dinners to come.
